How Oobo handles your photos, notes, purchases and the small amount of data the app keeps on your iPhone.

The short version

  • Oobo is a photo journal for iPhone. There is no Oobo account and no cloud library.
  • Your original photos, doodles and notes are stored on your device.
  • When you make a doodle, the selected photo is sent once to our AI image provider, each::labs, so it can return the crayon version. Oobo does not keep a copy on a server.
  • Oobo does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
  • Oobo Plus is purchased through Apple. Apple handles the payment.

What Oobo is

Oobo is an iPhone app that turns one photo a day into a crayon doodle card with a short note. It is made by an independent team and distributed through the App Store. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app or visit our website.

Photos, camera and notes

Oobo asks for access to your photo library or camera only when you choose a photo. It does not scan your library in the background.

The photo you pick, the crayon doodle made from it, the note you write and the date of the page are stored in the app’s private storage on your iPhone. The app also keeps a small index of your pages and a snapshot for the Home Screen widget in a shared container on the same device. That container is used by the widget and is not sent to us.

You can delete a page in the note editor. You can delete every page from Settings, and uninstalling Oobo removes the app’s data from the device. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, Apple’s backup rules determine whether the app’s files are included.

The AI crayon pass

When you choose a photo, Oobo sends a copy of that photo to each::labs, our AI image provider, to create the crayon version. The photo is sent for that request. Oobo does not keep a copy of your photo or the result on a server we operate.

each::labs processes the request to return the image. Its own privacy policy and retention practices apply to that processing. We do not control how long our provider keeps request data. You can read more at eachlabs.ai.

The app keeps a short, session-only log of generation timing on your device. It is used to show progress and to debug a failed doodle. It is not sent to Oobo and it is cleared when the app’s session ends.

What is stored on your iPhone

  • The original photo you chose.
  • The crayon doodle returned by the provider.
  • The note and date for each page.
  • App settings, including your Plus status as reported by Apple and, in development builds, the model you selected.
  • A widget snapshot in the app group shared with the Oobo widget.

There is no Oobo account, login, contact list upload or cloud journal. We cannot see your journal from our side.

Purchases

Oobo Plus is sold as an in-app purchase through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and shares an entitlement with the app. We receive the information needed to know whether Plus is active. We do not receive your card number or billing address. Apple’s privacy policy applies to the purchase.

Analytics and advertising

Oobo does not include advertising SDKs or third-party analytics SDKs. We do not build an advertising profile of you and we do not sell personal information.

The Oobo website is a static site. It sets no cookies and carries no advertising scripts. It does use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, so we can tell which pages people read. That tool sets no cookies and stores no identifier that would follow you to another site: Vercel derives a hash from the request, keeps it for at most 24 hours, and reports only aggregate figures such as page, referrer, country, device type and browser. We cannot identify you from those figures. Our hosting provider may also keep standard server logs, such as an IP address and a user agent, for security and reliability.

Data retention and deletion

Your pages stay on your iPhone until you delete them. Deleting a page removes its photo, doodle and note from the app. Deleting all doodles in Settings removes the journal and the widget snapshot. Uninstalling the app removes the app’s container from the device, subject to any device backup you have made.

Because we do not hold your journal on a Oobo server, there is no server copy for us to delete. For the single request sent to each::labs, their retention policy applies. You can contact us and we will pass a deletion request to the provider where their policy allows it.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or another region with data protection laws, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability.

The journal itself is under your control on your device, so you can exercise access and deletion directly in the app. For the AI request, or for any question about our processing, email us. We may need to verify that the request relates to you before we act on it.

We process the photo you choose to provide the doodle you asked for. We rely on the performance of our agreement with you for that processing, on our legitimate interest in keeping the app secure and reliable, and on your consent for access to your photo library or camera, which you can withdraw in iOS Settings.

If you are a California resident, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Children

Oobo is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a child has used the app on your device, you can delete the pages in the app or uninstall it.

International users

Oobo is operated from Türkiye. The app’s journal stays on your device. The single photo sent for a doodle may be processed by each::labs in the United States or another country where it operates. Where required, our provider uses appropriate safeguards for those transfers. Contact us if you would like more information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version. If a change is material, we will make it clear on this page or in the app before it takes effect.

Questions about this policy, or a request about your data? Use the support page. Since Oobo keeps no server copy of your journal, most data requests are answered by deleting pages in the app or uninstalling it.
